Inspiring Stories

On weekly basis, one of my task is to update my team of whatever happens in our counterpart countries. My calendar was used to be full of health day event throughout the year.

Now it is of other things. In addition, I will also send them wisdom words for them to read & ponder, or, at the very least, keep them occupied with reading material that are not work related. I have my own private collections since secondary school. In my first year during tertiary education phase, my Dean asked us to send them on weekly basis, first thing in the morning!. The class started at 7 am... I enjoyed it!

This week is quite uneventful in the countries' calendar that I can send to all. Therefore, I seek an inspiring story to share with them. My challenges are that to find something that is neutral & applicable to all. As Muslim, I want to send words that reminds all about Allah & Rasulullah, at the same time did not offend anybody else. Yes, WORLD PEACE! I did send  Prof. Dr. Muhaya's once, a good sharing from her, that does not touched anything directly religious.

In my search this morning, I came across this story. I can't recall where, but this is not my first time reading it. Really touched me.....

I want to share it here, with all my lovely readers...... learn from this please. Later, if it really inspire you, and you wanna do good deeds, & asked why you did it, tell them because of Allah & Rasulullah, also think if me, if it is not too hard to remember. If it is, then, it is Okay still. I knew I once shared this.

A glass of Milk, paid in Full
by STEPHEN on SEPTEMBER 15, 2008

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.

Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk.

He drank it slowly, and then asked, “How much do I owe you?”

“You don’t owe me anything,” she replied. “Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.”

He said, “Then I thank you from my heart.”

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Year’s later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.

Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.

Dressed in his doctor’s gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room.

She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She began to read the following words:

“Paid in full with one glass of milk”

Signed,
Dr. Howard Kelly.

cerita yang indah.

tapi zaman sekarang semua nya berbayar, semuanya ada nilai. bila someone ask me how much for the consultation or for the help, -if it was only a small matter- I will just set them as free.

but then that someone insist to pay. I will say, kalau la semua benda berbayar, sudah tiada lagi la keikhlasan dalam dunia ni kan?

if insist to pay, tell that person, please pay by helping someone else who face the same issue in future
